iPhone or Android? Bizarre new smartphone case makes dilemma seemingly redundant

The firm is aiming to raise $95,000 on Kickstarter for the Eye, an iPhone case that’s essentially a full-blown Android handset.
The case promises to strap a 5-inch AMOLED screen to the back of a user’s iPhone.
“The current technology of the iPhone LCD display is old,” reads the Kickstarter description. “In comparison, Eye’s screen is using the best display technology on the market today called AMOLED.
“With this technology, all colors, including real black, are much more vibrant on the screen. (There are rumors saying that only the premium version of the iPhone 8 will have an AMOLED display).
“Additionally, the display size and resolution of the iPhone 6, 6s and 7 is only 4.7" and 1,334 x 750. Eye's screen is 5" and 1,920 x 1,080!”

Here's what will make smartphones exciting again

What will it take to get you jazzed about smartphones again?
The industry appears mostly stuck in neutral, as was evident at the Mobile World Congress trade show that took place in Barcelona, Spain, last week. There was a me-too-ness to most of the handsets on display, and it’s been this way for a while. Can you spell I.N.C.R.E.M.E.N.T.A.L?
It was equally telling that one of the biggest stories to come out of MWC was about the relaunch of the Nokia 3310, a cheap compact throwback phone that debuted around the turn of century. It isn’t even slated for the U.S. market.

Apple’s Next-Gen iPhone May Not Have Curved Display At All

It’s not possible for Apple to release a new iPhone with curved display this year, accoring to a supply chain analyst.  It’s not possible for Apple to release a new iPhone with curved display this year, accoring to a supply chain analyst. Contrary to previous reports, a supply chain analyst has claimed that Apple is unlikely to release a next-gen iPhone with curved display. Instead, the Cupertino giant could still be sticking with flat screens for its new iPhones, especially for the rumored 10th anniversary iPhone or the iPhone 8.

On Friday, MacRumors exclusively spoke with smartphone supply chain researcher and analyst Wayne Lam of IHS Markit about Apple’s upcoming iPhones for 2017. Based on Lam’s statement, there wouldn’t be a new iPhone with curved display as claimed by earlier reports. “We anticipate Apple will adopt a flat implementation of OLED design on their special iPhone model, which is analogous to the current 2.5D glass design,” he said.

CIA 'mission' on cars shows concern about next-generation vehicles

The lobby of the CIA Headquarters Building in Langley  The lobby of the CIA Headquarters Building in Langley WikiLeaks documents showing the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency considered a "mission" against connected car technology underscores auto industry concern that the science behind the next generation of vehicles could be turned against them.

Cyber security is considered key to the rollout of tomorrow's self-driving and today's connected cars, which resemble computers on wheels with a host of communications routes that hackers could target.
If consumers are to trust smart vehicles, they must deem them safe from attack. Security experts cite the terrifying hypothetical example of a remote attack on a fully autonomous vehicle with no steering wheel or brakes, in which the passenger would have no recourse to regain manual control of the car.

"These cross-cutting criminal threats enable and facilitate most, if not all, other types of serious and organized crime," such as drugs and people trafficking, Europol said in a study of organized crime that it publishes every four years.

Robots could wear flesh to help form transplants

Right now, you have to grow human transplants in a stationary environment. That's more than a little dangerous when they could buckle under the stresses of a real body. Oxford University may have a clever (if slightly ghastly) solution to that problem: have robots wear the tissue first. If you grow muscles on humanoid robots, the movement and overall shape of those machines would lead to grafts and transplants that are ready for serious strain.

Alleged Samsung Galaxy S8 leak shows off the virtual home button

Check out that virtual home button on the bottom of the display.  The Samsung Galaxy S8 floodgates have opened and we're seeing more alleged leaks almost every day. The latest view was tweeted by Slashleaks last night and gives a potential look at the elusive phone.
Samsung decided to forgo the usual tradition of revealing its latest Galaxy S phone at Mobile World Congress this year. Instead, it will announce its next phone at a Samsung Unboxed event on March 29. Though the company has done a good job keeping the design a mystery, numerous pictures and videos claiming to be the S8 have begun to circulate around the web. While we can't confirm the validity of these leaks, they line up pretty well with some of the rumors we've seen.

Mysterious jellyfish spotted in ocean depths

A bizarre, UFO-looking jellyfish was spotted floating in the ocean depths near American Samoa on Feb. 21, 2017.: cosmic-jellyfish.jpg  An ethereal, ‘cosmic’ jellyfish was spotted in some of the deepest reaches of the ocean, hovering near a previously unexplored seamount.
The luminous sea creature, which may be a completely new species, was spotted by a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) roughly 9,800 feet below sea level in a remote region of the Pacific Ocean near American Samoa. The creature was discovered at the previously unexplored seamount, called Utu Seamount, by the members of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) 2017 American Samoa Expedition.
After the dive, Allen Collins, an invertebrate zoologist with NOAA’s National Systematics Lab, initially identified the creature as Benthocodon hyalinus. Still, there’s a possibility that the jellyfish could be a species previously unknown to science, Collins said.

This phone has embedded diamonds and a 360-degree camera

Every year a ton of phones come out with similar features and designs. But every once in a while, one comes out of nowhere that stands out for a great idea, unique style, or utter extravagance. ProTruly’s Darling smartphone seems to hit all three in the best and worst ways.
The Darling appears to be the first smartphone with a built-in 360-degree camera, allowing it to take photos and record video in all directions at once. The phone seems to let you preview those recordings as strange globes (as you can see in the video below). Presumably, you’d be able to upload them to the many sites (like YouTube and Facebook) that now support 360-degree footage.

The Darling is wonderfully excessive
