Ambode may drop commissioners

The Lagos State Governor, Akinkunmi Ambode, is expected to drop about five commissioners in an impending cabinet change.
There were rumours on Saturday that five commissioners had resigned, but NEWS  sources in the Lagos State Government House said this was not true.
The sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, however said Governor Ambode was not happy with the performance and attitude of some of his commissioners and that he had made up his mind to change them.

When pressed to name or confirm some of the commissioners that would be dropped, none of our correspondent’s sources was willing to divulge the information.
It will be recalled that Ambode fired three of his commissioners in October, a year after they were appointed into office. The affected commissioners were Mr. Folorunsho Folarin-Coker; Dr. Mustapha Akinkunmi; and Dr Ekundayo Mobereola.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, who made the announcement, did not give any reason for their removal. NEWS  had reported that Ambode was going to fire more commissioners.
When contacted on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde said it was not right to react to rumours.
Ayorinde said, “If anyone resigns, only the person and the governor can make the announcement. Also, only the governor can announce a change of his cabinet. It is not appropriate to react to rumours.”
